There Aren't Any Golden Years for Old Men

Those of us born in the forties are now old men
Some of my friends have already gone, while others are packing it in
With hard work the body has worn out over time
No, there aren't any Golden Years for old men.

Johnny, George and Willie are some with the leftover binge
The hard times we lived through are now paying dividends
Who knows where it all began but we know where it ends
No, there aren't any Golden Years for old men.

As we danced to their music and love cheating songs
At the Horseshoe on Friday, Dick Nolan, Tex Ritter and Loretta Lynn
Ain't it funny how time slips on by
No, there aren't any Golden Years for old men.

All we can do is reminisce as our lives near the end
Tell our stories and be remembered by family and friends
Don't take our mistakes too serious from our past
No, there aren't any Golden Years for old men.

Be with the ones you love as much as you can
The years that are left are going way too fast
With good health and fortune one day you will get old
Our young years behind us are as good as it gets.

We will keep the faith and see life through till the end
Visit whenever with family and friends
Looking back on life is the way it all ends
I pray to see those Golden Years for old ladies and old men.
