The Royal St. John’s Regatta is the highlight of the summer. Taking place on the first Wednesday of August, it’s considered the oldest organized sporting event in North America, and this year it celebrated 200 years.

People flock to Quidi Vidi Lake to take in the food, plays the games, and of course, watch the races. For the Augist 2018 issue, Downhome’s own Special Publications Editor Tobias Romaniuk followed the progression of racing boats in his article "The Regatta "Boats.
