Since i'm a "newfie" I introduced a tradition in Newfoundland - The UGLY Stick. We got together last year and made this wonderful addition to our mommas, as each person hosts the party she tags along, keeps all our secrets and helps to remind us that we are great moms and deserve a night out. Meet Baby Austin! He is just three weeks old and enjoys "playing down the cove" already! This photo was taken right in his backyard in Port aux Basques. I'm sure his mom and dad (Kelly Sheaves and Robert Pike) will be sending Austin up from there many times because he got his feet wet again! It sure looks like he's pretty comfortable and loves it down there already.

Gathering big rocks and sticks for the night's fire
Anxiously awaiting the dark to retire
Cooking wieners and marshmallows over the blaze
Singing songs and dancin yourself into a haze
Staying up past bedtime you'd hit the tent with a crash
But it would be the best sleep that for you could ever ask
Waking up in the morn to the beautiful bird's sounds
Forgetting all about sleeping on the ground
Those were the days when camping was adored
But as an adult it becomes more of a chore
We have to keep in mind the happiness it brings the little ones
To them it's all an adventure and lots of fun

This is Brianna. Her mom is Natasha Crawley originally from Holyrood, NL but now lives in Boyle, Alberta. She is hoping to visit Nanny and Poppy Crawley in Newfoundland for the first time in the near future. Poppy has his fishing rod waiting to go fishing with his little Brianna.
