I wondered how did a small town girl from Musgravetown end up in a place like this? I always knew there was a big world out there and as a child growing up, I read lots of books. I travelled there and took my Downhome magazine with me. After I finished reading it I left it at the resort to share with others. I cannot explain to you this beautiful country, India. I had goosebumps when I first glanced at the Taj Mahal. My husband and I were planning Hawaii for our 25th but are opting out to return to India. We like to travel and if there are places of interest that other Newfoundlanders have travelled in Asia or South America please let me know. Contact me vsharma@ctd.mb.ca or v_burt_me@hotmail.com

On it were a family of Gearin's who had never been to Newfoundland before. The Gearin family is from Renews NL on the Southern Shore. They came to meet their cousins and see the beautiful place their family came from. Mary ( Al ) and Jim ( Marilyn ) Gearin were met by their new found relatives on the wharf and drove to Renews to meet Mollie and the rest of the family and have a cup of tea of course, then it was on the road again for the hour and a half drive back to St. John's to get on the cruise ship.
Perfect strangers become instant friends and find their roots. Only in Newfoundland would you go to a ship to greet 'strangers' and bring them to your home! Hopefully the next stay wil be a little longer.
