Coming in for a Landing (1063 views) I was on the beach at Deer Lake in January taking pictures of a frosty winter wonderland when a plane flew over the lake on approach to Deer Lake airport. The trees were all white with frost and the sky was a brillant blue. What a wonderful day to sing..."when the plane touches down in Deer Lake."
Big Nan's Hands (1 comments)
Those hands raised a family with lots of love. She is an amazing knitter, mother, and grandmother to 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Cavendish (NL) 50 Plus Club version of the Winter Olympics held Feb. 2014. This is Team India at opening ceremonies. This year there were five countries represented - Norway, Bahamas, India and Colony of Newfoundland and Canada (overall gold medal winners).
Every home in Newfoundland has at one point or another had one of these located presumptuously next to the old rocking chair, near the old wood stove. Mom sits for hours upon hours, knitting each pair of mitts or socks with the same care and detail you've seen your own Mom or Nan doing.
