Sometimes, photos can’t tell the whole story on their own. Peruse these images of family gatherings, community events, travelling abroad – and sights that are just plain bizarre (ever see the island of Newfoundland take shape in a potato chip?) – and read about their significance.
While walking along Pond Side Trail in Norman's Cove-Long Cove, I saw this tree which looked like a baby elephant hiding behind its mother's leg.

Republic
Republic is a bold stand-out from other wines, uniting the sharp flavour of
rhubarb with the refreshing taste of plump, juicy raspberries. The result is
a crisp, fruity wine with an undercurrent of sweetness. Blended with pure
iceberg water, together these three elements reflect the pink, white and
green of the Newfoundland Republic flag.
Serve Republic ice-cold on its own, or in a glass with ice and sparkling
water for a delicious spritzer that makes wine coolers taste lame by
comparison. Or use it to make pitchers of sangria at your next party.

I was just going through my pictures of some large codfish that I have caught over the years, and I was wondering if you would be interested in publishing them in your excellent magazine? They range in weight from 40 to 78 lbs! Most of my family is in the Brampton-Mississauga area. I come from a family of 12 boys and four girls. Numbers 13, 14, 15 and 16 were the girls; the 12 boys were first and I'm the seventh son. THAT'S a story in itself! ... Hide full submission

Downhome Does Hollywood
This is a picture of me at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles in June, 2010. I brought this copy of Downhome to read on the plane ride down from Calgary - much better than watching movies. The statue of James Dean and the Hollywood sign is in the background.

We were 10 minutes into the dive at Creole Rock - I pulled the Downhome out of my B.C.D. (Buoyancy Control Device) vest - it started to break apart. (Sorry - did the salt water test and did not work!) Opportunity presented itself again June 21, 2010 at the same location - this time I used the waterproof version. I do not know if the quality is clear enough for the Downhome - or perhaps not suitable content! Just an excuse to drop you guys a line is worth a million bucks! Should be back to the Rock sometime soon for a visit. ... Hide full submission
