Images with a story to tell

Sometimes, photos can’t tell the whole story on their own. Peruse these images of family gatherings, community events, travelling abroad – and sights that are just plain bizarre (ever see the island of Newfoundland take shape in a potato chip?) – and read about their significance.

  Wreckhouse
Known as the windiest place in Newfoundland, the Wreckhouse area on the island’s southwest corner produces gale-force winds so intense, they have blown trains off their tracks. The Wreckhouse inspires awe with both its beauty and its punch. Wreckhouse wine, made from hand-picked, locally grown partridgeberries, offers the tantalizing taste of apple with the special “zip” of the wild partridgeberry. It’s a combination that’ll blow you away.

My son-in-law Eric visited Newfoundland for the first time in August. He is also trying a great meal of fish 'n' brewis for the first time and loving it.
