Katie is 14 now and has had a love for ponies since she was big enough to know what a pony was. Katie was 12 when she got her own pony, bought and paid for herself all $800.00. Katie's mom told her if she had her own money she could have a pony, but never dreamed she would raise $800 all by herself. Katie had yard sale after yard sale all summer long and along with a few family donations here and there, by September she got her first pony from a lady in Torbay, a miniature pony named "Timmie." But Katie never stopped there. Timmie only made her want more so the next year she found a little pony she named "Bailey" who was only 9 months old. Katie's heart belongs to her two miniature ponies who she spends all her spare time with, grooming, cartriding and loving. But Katie's story doesn't stop there either. This past fall Katie has aquired a new barn and with a new bigger barn comes room for more ponies! Katie now has two more miniature ponies belonging to a friend which she is boarding for the winter. Four ponies in total now, Katie rises at 6:15 in the morning and tends to her now four ponies before showering and going off to school! She returns from school at 3:40 in the evening and off the bus and straight to the barn to tend to the awaiting ponies who know her voice as she sings out to them on the way and they sing back! Katie and her ponies have lots of visitors and she always makes time for all of them. Katie has named her barn "Katie's Haven" and a haven it is to those who love ponies. Katie's love for ponies is beyond anything I have ever seen, a little girl with a hugh heart from "hearts desire" - a story worth sharing! ... Hide full submission
Three moose (two clearly visible in the photo) appeared in our front garden to dine on our Chinese Yews. Our daughter Tori's cat, Prudence, was clearly surprised by the presence of the large herbivores.
