My name is Jennifer Parsons and I am a Newfoundlander living in Pictou, Nova Scotia. On June 30th 2012, my Anglican church youth group and I set foot on a plane with a destination of San Juan, Puerto Rico. You might ask yourself why a group of teenaged Nova Scotian Christians would travel to Puerto Rico for a whole week. Well, we did it as a mission trip, organized through an organization called Adventures in Missions. This organization is designed to help Christian participants find mission trips to serve on.
While we were there, we were privileged to serve the local children through a week-long Vacation Bible school, a sports camp, and a service project, which involved cleaning up the local beach.
We stayed at a rental home in Luquillo, (which is just outside the capital, San Juan) and all week while we worked, we sweltered in the hot Caribbean sun desperately missing the cool Atlantic Canadian weather.
Though the view of palm trees and bright blue sky was very beautiful I was reminded of home's scenery by reading my Downhome magazine during my free time.
I am enclosing some photos of my group taken in Puerto Rico and you will notice that in one of them I am proudly displaying my Downhome magazine. This magazine truly does travel the world!

Behind me is Denae's friend Samantha. Formerly from Colliers, I moved to Goose Bay in '63, and raised my family there. I was there until '98, when I moved to Kingston, ON. ... Hide full submission

Trip to Ireland
On our vacation to Ireland this past May Brian and I were able to take a tour of the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland. Formed by lava the octagon formation is a truly amazing sight.
