Knit Together In Love "It's nice to see a love that's shared by a girl and her special man; And to know that friendship will last when it's in the Masters plan. Of course they will have their times with many trials and much strife; As they continuously try to establish and enrich one anothers lives. But through it all with God's help and Christ's love in their hearts; They decide to tie the knot never again to be apart. And so they pledge to each other their true love and devotion; In a ceremony that is filled with much love and emotion. Now comes the hardest part or so it seems; Now they have to fulfill one anothers dreams. To please God first and not themselves is their very first intent; Whether their prayers are answered yes or no they know it will be heaven-sent. Now sooner or later God blesses with a child or two, or even three; Thus there becomes a new branch to their continuing family tree. They all learn to love one another and treat each other with respect; But with Christ in total control what else would you expect. There comes a time in their lives when their children have all grown; Now they've gone out and found friendships and spouses of their own. Eventually they find themselves all alone to talk and to reminisce; And to thank Almighty God for the many years of wedded bliss. Now they are getting older and their children have all been blessed; They are so thankful to Christ for pulling them through the tests. Before they eventually pass on to be with their Heavenly Father forever; They bow on their knees to thank Him for the love that KNIT THEM TOGETHER." ... Hide full submission

A PLACE CALLED HOME "What's about Newfoundland"" they all ask, ""That Newfies always keep going back."" ""There's no life like it"" the Newfs reply. ""Send me back there if I die"". It's the people you see, they are the best. The ocean and land make up the rest. Friendly and courteous, they are to me, Born and raised that way, you see. Fight to survive, whatver may be. Friendly and courteous, they are to me, Born and raised that way, you see. Fight to survive, whatver may be. The beauty of nature at our door, stories of fishermen's along our great shores. ""You can't take a man from the sea"" Forever in his blood, it will be.. I, too, am a Newfie, not willing to leave I left before and how I grieved For a life I knew and longed for again I packed my things and headed home again. Now when people ask why I came home, I tell that Newfoundland is the place I call home. That leaving here would hurt me so ""I'm not leaving unless I have to go"". Jobs and money are not happiness, you see. I't being where you want to be. It's hard to explain when they all ask until you see a Newfie in Port Aux Basques. The look on their faces will say it all, as they enter into that port of call. ""It's good to be home"", they will say "" I'm coming home one day to stay""." ... Hide full submission

A Tribute to my Father "He was an oak tree Young, proud and strong His roots ran deep and firm Beside him, a beautiful elm They grew together, branches intertwined Their acorns scattered and grew close by His branches shaded the young saplings And they grew, loved and protected Never out of sight or mind His needs were few He appreciated God's earth and all that is in it The seasons passed by One by one Through the good times ... click to read more"He was an oak tree Young, proud and strong His roots ran deep and firm Beside him, a beautiful elm They grew together, branches intertwined Their acorns scattered and grew close by His branches shaded the young saplings And they grew, loved and protected Never out of sight or mind His needs were few He appreciated God's earth and all that is in it The seasons passed by One by one Through the good times and the bad He stood strong and defiant He lived, laughed and loved and was loved in return He grew more beautiful and majestic with age His branches spreading out to touch those around him with his kindness He began to weaken but he pushed on Remaining firm in his faith Until one day, all his strength was gone And he surrendered into God's arms Leaving his simple legacy of unconditional love, trust and devotion to his family And so it is. Written in memory of my dear father, George Drover, who passed away on November 10th, 2003 at the age of 78 years." ... Hide full submission

i'm just a name
"I'm just a name On a battered old stone, In a yard among many, But yet all alone. Days will come and go, This mound won't mean anything at all, Just a place in the yard For the leaves to fall. Winter will come and go, Spring will take its place, But all that remains Is a name, but not a face. The years will pass Time will move on No one will remember me Now that I'm gone. I'm just a name On a battered old stone In a yard among many, but yet forever alone."

GRAVESITE
"GRAVESITE I VISITED YOUR GRAVESITE,IT FELT SO COLD AND LONELY; FOR YOU WERE NOT THERE. I SAID A PRAYER AND LOOKED TOWARDS HEAVEN; I FELT HAPPY AND LOVED AS I LOOKED ABOVE;FOR I KNEW YOU WERE THERE. I COULD SEE YOUR SMILING FACE LOOKING DOWN FROM ABOVE. I COULD HERE YOU SAY BEFORE I LOOKED AWAY,DONT WORRY WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN SOME DAY. I WROTE THIS POEM IN MEMORY OF MY MOM AND DAD MARY AND AMBROSE THISTLE WHO WILL BE FOREVER IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE WHOS LIVES THEY TOUCHED."

Ghost Town
No one there to see the sights of moonlit bay and northern lights. Or see the shadow as it falls on empty homes and crumbled walls. No sound at all save wind and wave a town as silent as the grave. But the sun still greets the coming day o'er fields where childern once had played And if you listen to a summer breeze as it wispers through the alder leaves You may hear voices or so it seems Of a time long past on a field of dreams.

insider
"Insider the darkness which partially covers my mind the flashing images of death killing, and all things considered evil. Oh this tourtered world it is against nature like harming ourselves on purpose. oh this torutred world. Our evil ways are killing us all. We are bringing, and embrasing murder Upon ourseleves. But I cannot blame you, I'm no better."
