Watch for the Downhome RV this summer!

Ron and his wife, Lila are on the road in the Downhome RV again this year, meeting you in your community! If you don't already have a Downhome sticker on your vehicle, pick one up from Ron and Lila as they make their way across the province this summer. If they spot the sticker on your vehicle, you could win any one of these great books: The Downhomer Almanac and Cookbook (vols 1-3), Downhome Memories, or the Dictionary of Newfoundland English. If you aren't in your vehicle to accept your prize, you're still a winner! Check this Web site often and browse photos of winning vehicles; if you see yours, send an e-mail to ron@downhomelife.com to claim your prize.

  Wreckhouse
Known as the windiest place in Newfoundland, the Wreckhouse area on the island’s southwest corner produces gale-force winds so intense, they have blown trains off their tracks. The Wreckhouse inspires awe with both its beauty and its punch. Wreckhouse wine, made from hand-picked, locally grown partridgeberries, offers the tantalizing taste of apple with the special “zip” of the wild partridgeberry. It’s a combination that’ll blow you away.
