...and that's how you do it!!
Little Lucky proudly shows off his first catch out off the shores of Fairbanks, Newfoundland. T'was a blowing a gale and his sou'wester blew off but he was looking forward to another good day of catching his quota!!
It's great to be outdoors in the cold, fresh air but sometimes just standing there over the ice fishing hole can get a big boring. I figured that it might be fun to not only fish but watch the fish grab the bait too. A little "here fishy fishy" call into the hole also seemed to do the trick!
Buddy lives across the street and down the hill. He often comes up to check the goings on up at the Scarfone cabin and also to catch the view from the lobster pot - that is until his mom calls him home!

Long Point Shadow
During a recent winter visit to the Long Point Lookout I noticed how far my shadow cast on the rocks. In the background there is an early iceberg! The sound of the thundering waves and smashing ice was amazing!
My husband and I recently travelled to Ireland and of course we had to bring along our copy of the Downhome magazine. Although we weren't able to get to Belfast we did see a sign pointing towards Belfast while in Dublin. Ireland was wonderful, and at times it felt as if we were in Newfoundland, especially around the coast.
The summer of 2012 was one of Newfoundland skies full of Red Admiral butterflies. These beautiful ones were bountiful amongst the flowers at Long Point.
