Does anyone know of any good Newfoundland-related novels for teens?

I have to buy a birthday present for a 14-year-old girl who loves to read. I would like to find something Newfoundland-related, but age-appropriate as well.
Janet McNaughton is, in my opinion, one of the most talented authors this province has to offer when it comes to youth writing. You might want to check out the following books, all written by her - any of these would be a perfect choice for the age group you've indicated:
1. Catch Me Once, Catch Me Twice
2. Make or Break Spring
3. The Secret Under My Skin
4. The Raintree Rebellion

The "Dear Canada" series is very popular with young girls. The historic series includes tales from all corners of the country. There is at least one Newfoundland-related novel that I know of in the series. It is called, "Winter of Peril: The Newfoundland Diary of a Young Girl." I believe it is set in 1700s Newfoundland.

You could check out books by local author Susan Chalker Browne. One that I can think of, in particular, is called "The Land of a Thousand Whales." Hopefully this reading material is suitable for a 14-year-old. It might be more geared towards the 10-12 age group, though.

Charlie Wilcox is an excellent book, it's a partly fictional story about a boy from Brigus, NL. It even has a sequel story. Perfect for a young reader.
