Official Rules
The 50,000th Submission Contest opens May 1, 2012 and closes June 1, 2012. The contest is open to anyone except employees of Downhome Inc. and their immediate families.
How to Enter
Photos, stories, jokes or poems may be submitted along with the submitter's name, complete mailing address and other contact information (email address and/or telephone number). Photo submission(s) must be images taken by the submitter. More than one entry per person is allowed. Entries must be received, either by mail or electronically, before the contest closes at the end of business day (12 p.m. NT) on June 1, 2012. If Downhome reaches a minimum of 50,000 submissions by June 1, 2012, all approved submissions received during the contest period are automatically eligible to win. If Downhome has not received a minimum of 50,000 submissions by June 1, 2012, no prizes will be awarded.
Mailed submissions may be sent to Downhome Submissions, 43 James Lane, St. John's, NL, A1E 3H3.
Downhome staff will proofread and approve each submission for public viewing on our website. Only approved submissions will be eligible to win the 50,000th Submission Contest. Downhome staff reserves the right to delete any submission deemed to be offensive, of poor quality, or that is not in keeping with the standards of Downhome magazine and DownhomeLife.com.
How Winners Are Chosen
If Downhome receives a minimum of 50,000 submissions by June 1, 2012, Downhome staff will choose, at random, three submissions received during the contest period. These three submitters will win their choice of two prizes. Prizes will be awarded to winners using the contact information they provided with their entry.
Rules and Regulations
The prizes must be accepted as awarded. If for any reason the exact prize, or any part of it, cannot be awarded, Downhome agrees to award a replacement of the same or greater value. Downhome reserves the right to choose the source of the prize.
The contestant is responsible for ensuring he/or she has the legal right to distribute the submission and enter it in this contest.
Downhome is not responsible for the validity of the address provided by the contestant, and Downhome has to assume that the contestant is the legal owner of the name and email address by which his/her entry is made electronically.
Downhome is not responsible for any circumstances out of its control that prevents entry to this contest, including labour dispute; technical, equipment or electrical failure; problems with Internet providers, communications cables, spam filters etc.
Confidentiality
Entry materials (photos, letters etc.) will not be returned to contestants. Any personal information gained from the process (email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers) will be kept in Downhome's confidential files and will not be shared with any third party without the prior consent of the contestant. The information may be used only by Downhome Inc. to contact contestants for marketing or other Downhome business purposes.
By entering the contest, the contestant agrees to have his/her name and town of residence published in Downhome media (print, electronic and other) if he/she is a winner.
After the contest ends, entries will remain on display on www.downhomelife.com in appropriate photo gallery categories. Downhome Inc. reserves the right to publish those entries at a later date in future print and/or electronic media campaigns. Downhome will not share this content with any third parties without the contestant's prior consent.
